COMMITTEES are the core structures that keep the union running. They handle the ongoing work that makes our union function (for example, communications, membership, bargaining, or labor management). Committees are usually standing bodies, meaning they continue year after year and report directly to the union’s leadership or membership.
LABOR MANAGEMENT (LMC)
This is the only committee mandated by our contract. Union members and SEIU staffers meet with the Emory administration to oversee the implementation of the contract and discuss workplace issues. Current union members:
Tasfia Jahangir (coordinator)
Liam Hanson
David Banks
Jordyn Starr
ORGANIZING (OC)
This is an extension of the Executive Board, open to any rank-and-file member of the union who wants to take an active role in building our union by taking responsibility for talking with their co-workers, growing our membership, and moving our members to take action. Meets biweekly on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30 PM. See our calendar.
COMMUNICATIONS (CC)
Passionate about graphic design or writing? Want to put your skills to good use? Join the Communications Committee! Here, members help run our social media, newsletters, take press training, write letters to the editors, etc.
ELECTIONS (EC)
Unions are democracy at work! If you want to help oversee the various elections we hold for officers, resolutions, and referendums, join the elections committee!
